IBSS was awarded a 5-year contract with the National Weather Service (NWS) to support deployment and operations of the Community Satellite Processing Package for Geostationary Data (CSPP-GEO) Software into the operational Geostationary Weather Satellite Antenna Systems (GWSAS) environment. This software will allow the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) to ingest and disseminate weather observation instruments data products for weather forecasting supporting NWS mission of saving life and property.
In a new partnership with the University of Wisconsin-Madison Space Science and Engineering Center (SSEC), IBSS will provide software installation, training, and system support for CSPP-Geo and AXI-Tools — ensuring the availability of valuable GOES data for dissemination. Recently, NOAA’s Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellites (GOES) new series of satellites (GOES-R) were launched into their respective operational orbits. IBSS will replace the current proprietary software receiving and decoding/encoding satellite signals for NWS GOES-R Rebroadcast (GRB) and HimawariCast 8 Rebroadcast (H8RB) that provide real-time broadcasts of weather instrument data with the open source University of Wisconsin’s CSPP-Geo. We will train NWS personnel in operating and maintaining the software, and provide tier 3 operational and maintenance (O&M) software support.
As a trusted NOAA partner for 19 years, IBSS looks forward to continuing our ongoing service in advancing their mission.
