IBSS Awarded Task to Provide Communications and Education Services to the NOAA Alaska Fisheries Science Center

Silver Spring, MD June 2021:

IBSS was awarded a Task Order to provide Communications and Education support services to NOAA’s Alaska Fisheries Science Center (AFSC), Operations, Management, and Information Division.

The AFSC studies Alaska’s marine life and ecosystems and works toward a sustainable use of living marine resources.

IBSS will support AFSC’s mission to study and promote sustainable living marine resources in the North Pacific and Arctic regions by:

  • Developing communications activities and products to raise awareness and visibility of AFSC’s scientific mission
  • Establishing and facilitating two-way communications between AFSC and the fishing industry, Alaska Indigenous communities, local schools, universities, other government agencies, and the general public
  • Creating and updating various communications products in support of AFSC’s mission
  • Organizing and implementing annual education and outreach events
  • Developing internal and external communications to assist scientists to convey their research to a broader public audience
