September 20, 2024

Silver Spring, MD – August 2024:

IBSS, a leading government contractor providing services for environmental science and engineering (including oceans, coasts, climate, weather, and satellite); cybersecurity and enterprise information technology; and professional management services; was awarded the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Alaska Fisheries Science Center (AFSC) Operations, Management, and Information Communication Support Task Order.

About NOAA Alaska Fisheries Science Center

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS), Alaska Fisheries Science Center (AFSC) conducts research to support NOAA Fisheries’ stewardship on living marine resources by managing and monitoring the health and sustainability of fish, marine mammals, and their habitats across nearly 1.5 million square miles of water surrounding Alaska, which produces more than half of the fish caught in the United States, worth $1.8 billion. This region includes waters in the Gulf of Alaska, Bering Sea, Aleutian Islands, Chukchi Sea, and Beaufort Sea. Together, these waters support some of the most important commercial fisheries in the world, are home to the largest marine mammal populations in the Nation, and support some of the most critically endangered marine mammal populations. The AFSC’s Operations, Management, and Information Division (OMI) Communications Program supports the AFSC Center mission by translating the science that is conducted into high-quality communications products and services for both internal and external audiences to inform, educate, and inspire.

Under this contract, IBSS will provide Media Specialist III support to the AFSC. The Media Specialist III supports AFSC’s diverse science portfolio by planning and executing the development of media and graphics materials that inform appropriate target audiences of AFSC’s research, accomplishments, and activities. The Media Specialist III promotes AFSC science, products, and services, both internally and externally, to other international, federal, state, and local agencies, universities, and the general public.

As a trusted NOAA partner for over 20 years, IBSS looks forward to our continued delivery of innovative science-meets-technology solutions that forward the NOAA mission and make NOAA’s science matter to constituents both at home and abroad.
