IBSS Volunteers Host Annual Annapolis Field Trip for Local Students

June 5, 2025

At IBSS, service doesn’t stop at our contracts, it extends into the communities where we live and work. Our volunteer committee is proud to continue its commitment to meaningful, community-focused initiatives, and this past May was no exception. We were thrilled to sponsor our annual field trip to Annapolis for students from Silver Spring International Middle School.

Each year, this event gives students a unique opportunity to explore Maryland’s capital and experience some of the region’s most exciting sights. This year’s trip included a scenic harbor cruise around Annapolis offering views of the historic waterfront and the prestigious United States Naval Academy. For many of the students, it was their first time on a boat or seeing the Academy up close, making the trip all the more memorable.

As a special treat, each student received a swag bag filled with IBSS goodies, and lunch was provided to keep everyone fueled for the day’s adventure. But the highlight of the afternoon was the thrilling flyover by the U.S. Navy’s Blue Angels. The students were captivated as the jets roared above. It was a powerful moment that showcased both the might of military aviation and the awe of shared experience.

This field trip is just one of the many ways our volunteer team works to give back, mentor youth, and create opportunities for future leaders. It’s also a reminder of what we can accomplish when we step outside our daily routines to support and uplift those around us.
