IBSS was awarded a task order on the ProTech Weather vehicle with NOAA National Weather Service (NWS) to provide information security engineering, assessment and continuous monitoring support for systems within the Meteorological Development Laboratory (MDL). The MDL conducts applied research and development that is used to improve various operational systems and tools used by Weather Forecast Offices, River Forecast Centers, and National Centers, and NWS Core Partners to improve forecasts and impact-based decision support.
This task will provide services that ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of systems crucial to testing new technology integration into NWS operations. Our services include:
- Coordinating policy development and implementation
- Accomplishing security assessment and authorization activities based on NIST guidelines
- Conducting vulnerability management analysis and remediation guidance to system owners and supporting internal information security programs and initiatives
- Safeguarding MDL’s infrastructure both in the cloud and on-premise.
- Collaborating with NWS OCIO to enforce and implement NIST, DOC, and NOAA Information Security and Policies
- Enhancing the usage of CSAM for the purpose of development of the System Security Plan and POAMs
