IBSS Corporation is proud and excited to announce that it has been awarded the NOAA NWS Modeling Program, Research to Operations (R2O), Service Delivery Evaluation (SDE), and Budget Management and Support Contract.
Under this award, IBSS will provide the following support:
- Program management and technical support
- Budget execution and tracking support
- Coordination, management, and tracking of Annual Operating Plan (AOP) milestones via Quarterly Program Reviews (QPR) and oversight of R2O projects and transition plans via Smartsheet and other enterprise solutions
- Development and delivery of programmatic and project-level briefings, slides, dashboards, spreadsheets, and documents
- Attendance in meetings and engagements with partners
- Facilitation with badging and processing of students and employees though NOAA security
- Coordination with stakeholders
- Meeting preparation, facilitation, and reporting
- Provision of general support
- Provision of SDE expertise and support in the development and execution of SDE projects
About NOAA NWS Modeling Program, R2O, SDE, and Budget Management and Support
The National Weather Service (NWS) Office of Science and Technology Integration (OSTI) is designed to manage the execution of acquisition and development programs meeting the needs for current and future NWS operations. Some of the NWS programs and projects managed include: Advanced Weather Interactive Processing System (AWIPS), product improvement projects for observing systems (e.g., ASOS, Automated Surface Observing System and NEXRAD), NexGen, Weather Radio Improvement Project (WRIP), Hurricane Forecast Improvement Program (HFIP), National Science and Operational Officer (SOO) / Development and Operations Hydrologists (DOH) Program, the William M. Lapenta Internship Program, and the Service Delivery Evaluation (SDE) Program.
NWS leads an effort in continued advancement of operational global prediction capabilities, including migration to next-generation supercomputing. The development of the Next Generation Global Prediction System (NGGPS) is a priority focused on environmental modeling predictions to longer time scales and in multiple coupled regimes. This program is a partnership to fundamentally advance the nation’s weather prediction system and improve models used by meteorologists and other decision makers. The objectives are to accelerate weather forecasting skills by enabling quicker transitions of research to operations (R2O) which relies on the development of a critical infrastructure for the NGGPS. Multiple NOAA line offices collaborate closely on this program. The Hurricane Forecast Improvement Program (HFIP) provides the basis for NOAA and other agencies to coordinate hurricane research needed to significantly improve guidance for hurricane track, intensity, and storm surge forecasts. It also engages and aligns the interagency and larger scientific community efforts towards addressing the challenges posed to improve hurricane forecasts.
