Supporting Local Ecosystems Through Hands-On Service
Our headquarters team partnered with the Anacostia Watershed Society for a cleanup effort at Lane Manor Park in Hyattsville, Maryland. With clear skies and plenty of energy, volunteers spent the day removing litter and debris from the park and surrounding waterways.
Together, volunteers collected:
- 39 bags of trash
- 18 bags of recycling
- Large discarded items including a bicycle, car bumper, grill, chair, carpet, and other bulky debris
The cleanup highlighted both the challenges facing local ecosystems and the meaningful impact communities can make when they work together. In just a few hours, volunteers helped restore a cleaner, healthier environment for wildlife and local residents alike.
Environmental Stewardship Beyond Headquarters
Because IBSS employees are located throughout the United States, our Earth Day efforts extended far beyond the D.C. metro area. Many team members participated remotely by organizing or joining cleanup activities in their own communities, including local parks, beaches, and public spaces. These individual efforts helped expand the reach of our Earth Day initiative and reinforced a shared commitment to environmental stewardship, regardless of location.
